1) Settlers Village has been instructed by Harris County that the placement or attachment of any private sign to signs installed and/or maintained Harris County is expressly prohibited. The placing of private advertising signs constitutes the defacing of county property. The Homeowners Association will remove any signs violating this law within the neighborhood without notice and may charge the sign's owner up to $50 per sign violation to pay them for administration and clean-up of illicit signage.
2) The placement of private signs on any Settlers Village community property, without the express written consent of the Settlers Village Community Improvement Association is prohibited. The Homeowners Association will remove any signs violating this law within the neighborhood without notice.
3) Centerpoint Energy had advised that no signs of a commercial or political nature may be mounted on the streetlight poles without express written authorization from Centerpoint. The Homeowners Association will remove any signs violating this law within the neighborhood without notice.
4) Privately constructed signs are permissible on the local right of ways provided they are dated and in good repair. Undated signs and signs over five (5) days old will be removed. Private signs are allowed on private property with the express consent of that property owner. Otherwise, that owner may remove this offending sign without notice. Please remember to pick up your signs when your garage sale is over. The Texas Legislature House Bill 413 which revised the state transportation code that deals with illegal “bandit” signs makes individuals or companies who advertise on these signs or even authorize a person to place the signs along a roadway, subject to fines. Law Enforcement no longer has to witness the placements of signs to able to cite offenders. Fines range from $500.00 to $1,000.00.
